SHILOH FOOD PANTRY

Purpose

Many of our Avondale neighbors, unfortunately, have fallen on hard times. They are plagued by a host of problems, not the least of which is poverty.  Although we attend church in Avondale, most of our members do not live in Avondale, nor do they experience poverty first hand. We feel that one way that we can help our less fortunate Avondale neighbors is to contribute to a local community food bank.

Background

At Thanksgiving and Christmas, many food banks have a surplus of food--due to the popularity of canned goods at those times. Then they typically face lean times. For this reason, in 2007 we chose to hold our canned good drive for a few weeks in the spring. Surplus goods from bakery outlet stores are also contributed. Donations are taken to the Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Community Service Center for distribution to our neighbors in need.

Current Activity

The canned food drive will be held each spring.
