FAIR TRADE COFFEE SALE

Purpose

To provide convenient access for First Church members and friends to purchase Fair Trade Coffee. FTC provides a living wage to small farm coffee growers in developing countries.

Background

Beginning in 2004 First Church sold Fair Trade Coffee through the UUSC's program. Because this entailed orders and shipping, in 2006, through the efforts of Bud Haupt a local provider was found: Ten Thousand Villages.

Current Activity

Several times throughout the year following worship services, coffee is sold during coffee hour. Proceeds are enough to cover the cost of most of the coffee used at the church.
