Justice At First Unitarian

Putting Our UU Principles into Action

MISSION

The mission of the
Social Justice Committee (SJC) is to effectively address systemic causes and results of social injustice by involving current and prospective members and friends of First Unitarian Church in worthwhile efforts that align with our principles and church mission.

Most of our social justice work is coordinated through the  Social Justice Committee (SJC). In the fall of 2007, SJC reorganized itself….creating a revised structure and operating guidelines approved by the Board.

SJC
meets quarterly in November, February, May, and August. Between meetings work is accomplished by email.  Our Social Justice Committee is a clearinghouse for new social justice endeavors initiated by our members. SJC encourages members to make proposals for projects and proposals for community outreach donations. The
Odyssey Committee and the Humanist Group often provide forums for the discussion of Social Justice issues.
