DONATIONS FOR YWCA BATTERED WOMEN'S SHELTER TALBERT HOUSE for EX-INCARCERATED MEN

Purpose

Our purpose is to provide items needed by temporary residents in the Battered Women's Shelter (previously known as Alice Paul House) and males in the halfway house, Talbert House, located on Spring Grove Ave. We collect new and/or used clothing and supplies to help these shelters conserve their limited financial resources.

Donating used (but useful) items is also a form of recycling.  Although both shelters have specific "wish lists," many of the items donated are not needed or the shelters lack storage space. These useful items are delivered to the Free Store.

Background

We have been picking up and delivering carloads of collected items for over ten years. Roland Johnson provided this service until he moved away.? Currently Laurel Hinkle provides this service.

Current Activities

This is an ongoing project at First Unitarian Church. In the entryway there is a sign above the far right cabinet. Donated items are placed in that cabinet.
