Sunday Mornings at First Unitarian

Picture
Services begin at 10 a.m. and usually last a little more than an hour. Our beautiful 19th century building is at 536 Linton Street at the corner of Reading Road in Avondale (45219), near Corryville and Walnut Hills. The Tiffany Rose Window and other stained glass in the sanctuary is a nod to years gone by. Also, the church has many accessible features, so don't miss the next subtab under visitors—Accessibility is Important to Us—to learn about them.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever is comfortable for you. Some people at our services dress up and some don’t. Either way is fine.

The Welcome Center
In the lobby greeters will help you find the coatroom, restrooms, Sunday School rooms, or the Sanctuary. They’re good at answering questions about our building and our community.

The Service
A typical service includes brief, thoughtful readings, congregational singing, and a sermon by our minister, Dr. Alexander Riegel. You can see past services on YouTube. Our music director, Jera Cox, ensures that a variety of music and performers enhance services. Our services are based on varied traditions and ways of seeking the truth. For more information read about what to expect in worship.

Children
The core of our activities for our Children's Religious Education program is Sunday School. Children of all ages are welcome to attend all services. Preschool and school-age children are also invited to join religious education activities held in classrooms on our lower level during the sermon portion of the service. Twice a month, children ages 3-12 start Sunday morning in Children's Chapel, a service designed just for them downstairs in Room 5. On other Sundays, kids can choose to either enjoy the first part of the service in a dedicated children's area at the front of the sanctuary or sit with their parents.

Afterwards
If you have time, please join us—with your children—for conversations, coffee, and a snack after the service in the Ellen Hall Room, which is next to the welcome center in the lobby. This is one of the best ways to learn about the core of our beloved community—its people. Often there are other activities going on too, most of which are open to anyone. Some are listed on the church calendar and in the monthly newsletter.
